Review new Apple MacBook Pro 2016 (13-inch): The best MacBook for professionals and creatives

We've already extensively covered the basics on the new 13- and 15-inch Pros, which were unveiled at Apple's headquarters on October 27 and are available for sale as of early November. That includes our exclusive early hands-on with the new MacBook Pro, as well as our review of the entry-level 2016 MacBook Pro model (which keeps its traditional function key row, and doesn't include TouchID). Start with both of those stories if you want an exhaustive overview of the design changes, component upgrades and port-related compromises of this MacBook Pro -- which is essentially the 10th anniversary edition of the original 2006 MacBook Pro.

The 13-inch 2016 MacBook Pros come in two sizes and three main flavors. The model we tested for this review is the base model, without the snazzy new Touch Bar and sporting only two Thunderbolt 3 ports. Here's what you get for your $1,500:

Review new Apple MacBook Pro 2016 (13-inch)

This review is of the Apple 61W USB-C power adapter included with 2016-2017 13-inch MacBook Pros (MNF72LL/A). In 2018 Apple released an updated version included with the 2018 MacBook Pros (MRW22LL/A). The 2018 model supports more standard power profiles and better meets USB-C specifications.

I've been waiting for this MacBook Pro 2021 (14-inch) review for a very long time. I last bought a Mac in 2012, when the first Retina Display MacBook Pro arrived. And then I didn't need a MacBook until around 2016 and 2017, right when Apple switched to a controversial keyboard that felt too shallow, took away MagSafe and those valuable ports. 2ff7e9595c
